Hello Sinister Citizens and welcome to another episode of Beneath the Rain Shadow! This week we critique the third story in our ongoing quest to write a prompt-based short story each month! Tamara was up to bat this time around with the prompt of:
Horror Trope: Cursed Artifact
Location: The Seattle Underground
PNW Quirk: Tech Bros
What she produced was this awesome witch/revenge story about a woman named Mari who is struggling to outlast a familial curse that has led to three generations of women in her family being sexually abused, and ultimately, forced to birth and raise the daughters of their abusers, knowing they will one day face the same horrible fate. When Mari sees a chance to break her curse, she is willing to go to any lengths to defend and liberate herself from this paranormal, generational oppression.
